God: A Human History by Reza Aslan

5.0

I've always wondered why virtually every human civilization or community believed in something basically non-existent. I wondered how natural selection might factor into that, but something so complex is often hard to completely understand from an evolutionary perspective alone. Aslan does a fantastic job with this book, presenting his rich ideas about humans and when other hominid species started believing in gods, and how that belief has and continues to change, drawing parallels between that evolution and our own civilization. Highly recommend, and as always, Aslan's writing flows nicely and manages to present itself in a narrative, honestly fun manner.
