But You Seemed So Happy: A Marriage, in Pieces and Bits by Kimberly Harrington

4.0

A solid 3.5 rounded up! This is a series of essays chronicling the end of a 20+ year marriage, some of which are really powerful and relatable. There are some satirical type essays that are meant to be funny, written like lists or scripts, which didn’t enjoy as much as the others. Kind of felt like filler. However I really enjoyed Harrington’s voice and putting words to some of the complications of marriage and family. (Not to spoil anything but the couple still lived together post divorce so not necessarily a “anti marriage” book imo)
