The novel did a great job of keeping my attention throughout and was true to the expectations of the society of the times and did not give me the romance between the characters that I wanted. . Some of the modern thoughts on feminism was heavy handed for that character- I don’t think Charlotte would have been that progressive even if she did find her lot in life that unfair. I went into this not really knowing that I would find and it doesn’t have a plot in the way Austen had plot. It was ok. Good and believable drop into the Austen world.
