Duke of Midnight by Elizabeth Hoyt

1.5

reviewing this so i can remember that i don't read elizabeth hoyt bc a) sexism and b) high frequency of sexual assault victims + that topic not being handled well (the SA isn't an issue in this book... i mean, there is one thing but the fmc thinks it's hot so i guess that's fine then. at least it's not the canon abuse recovery plot. but also the mmc kept calling the fmc "diana", i guess because her name was artemis?? even in serious conversations. i was not convinced that he knew her actual name. also refusing to marry your love interest because of "pride" in a time period where doing that makes them a complete social outcast is always a black mark in my book. stand up for her, or get out of the ring. this is a romance book i didn't sign up for this halfassery. i'd prefer the classic regency novel "oh no! i'm being hunted by a murderer!" plot to this lukewarm take. he absolutely does not have the right to say he loves her if he's treating her like this.)
