The Silver Siren by Chanda Hahn

5.0

Wow! This book was completely amazing! I'll admit I started this trilogy with a measure of doubt, but it built and built and built and by the end was completely amazingly everything I want in a YA fantasy novel.

So to start with, the characters are amazing. Even minor characters from the first book change and grow and develop in unexpected ways. Between sword brothers and guardians and sirens, nations at war for reasons and then underlying reasons and then real reasons, there is conflict galore, twists and turns and surprises, and everything wonderful. Everything that seemed disconnected in the previous books came together into a glorious amalgamation of answers and explanations, and yes, surprises.

To begin with, Kael takes Thalia to his home. This is only fair, since book 2 took us to both Joss and Thalia's homes, but things are a little different with sword brothers. They aren't what she expected and neither is she what they expected. Things just get crazier from there as more worlds collide, family she didn't know comes out of the woodwork, the attacks from the Septori and others grow more frequent, and for the first time, Joss and Kael and Thalia are sent in three different directions. Much is at stake, but Thalia is ready for it, or at least ready to sacrifice everything.

So much wow! I will probably need to reread this trilogy at a later date just to catch what happened with everyone and everything, but this was excellent and I loved it and I recommend it to people.
