Franklin describes the riveting and incredible feat of José Salvador Alvarenga and his survival adrift in the Pacific Ocean for 438 days. At times cringe-worthy for the food sources Alvarenga had to endure. It’s and a tense book filled with salt spray, ocean storms, death, fishing life, friendship, faith, and love. I recommend to those who enjoy survival stories and can stomach a few graphic descriptions of hunting/fishing.
Graphic: Suicidal thoughts, Gore, Animal death, and Death
Moderate: Suicide attempt and Drug use
