“I am eating an unsliced loaf of bread like an unsupervised goat in a bakery. I am biting off hunks and swigging back wine to help the carby mouthfuls travel through my throat into the crypts of my body like I am Christ at his Last Supper. This is, based on my understanding, how to treat your body like a temple.”
3.5/5 for me! Pretty entertaining book about a chronically anxious lesbian who accidentally gets a job at a Catholic Church and becomes a murder suspect.
I really appreciated how Gilda’s anxiety was written- the book does a great job of actually describing how debilitating it is for her. Especially towards the end, the book made a cool effort to really immerse the reader into Gilda’s mind.
It’s kind of like fleabag. Not in the way that the plots are similar at all, but kinda in a vibes way.
