'Salem's Lot by Stephen King

3.0

I have mixed feelings about this book. I have respect for a book that takes the vampire thing more traditionally and makes it a classic horror story rather than something that is trendy (ala Twilight, et al).

However, it took me awhile to get into this book. I was halfway through the book and still wondering where it was going. Many people recommended 'Salem's Lot to me, saying it was King's scariest work of all time. I went into it with that expectation and it was destined to fail.

Eventually, it was a page-turner for me and I enjoyed it for what it was. I also enjoyed meeting the character Father Callahan who appears later in the Dark Tower series, which I'm also currently reading.
