As a trans person, I definitely feel seen by this book. I never equated my love of cryptids and "weird" things to be related to my transness but this book pulls those two ideas together really nicely through the words of this 6th grade trans boy.
The think that got me most about this book is how desperate Noah becomes to see Mothman. Like he needs proof that he was being understood by something real instead of imaginary.
The fact that this book is YA, too, I think is really good. I didn't have any books that talked so clearly about the trans experience while I was figuring myself out and really it is something that is so few and far between. So to know that this book will likely be read by lots of trans kids growing up right now makes me feel very hopeful.
