Lie to Her
4 Stars

Sheriff Bree Taggert and criminal investigator, Matt Flynn, respond to the death of a man in an apparent home invasion. However, evidence quickly suggests that his murder was related to his use of a dating app. When another man is murdered in a similar way, Bree and her team are forced to admit that they may have a serial killer on their hands, a killer whose most recent target hits too close to home.

***Trigger Warning***
There are numerous references to snakes in this book.

The who-dun-it style mystery is well-plotted, and Leigh skillfully evokes the reader's empathy and sympathy for the victims despite their objectionable behavior. There is also some excellent misdirection although it is possible to figure out the killer's identity if one is paying attention.

Bree and Matt's personal relationship takes a back seat, but there are several delightful moments with their families and friends. It is wonderful to see them all coming together into one cohesive group.

In sum, this definitely the best installment in the series so far. I look forward to the next book, which releases in September.
