this is such an unexpected read. it has been on my tbr for so long that i only remembered it for its obscure title and book cover. the story was set in a matriarchal society that was already commendable. i thought it's going to be about wars but nope. the scenes were mundane but it was reflective. it's more of a coming-of-age but in bronze or iron ages lmao. the prose was simple but has oddness in it that i find beautiful. there are wlw subplots as well. it's a cozy hisfic with a hint of magical realism. tho it's matriarchal, it doesn't mean it's a perfect world. it also doesn't mean they're degrading men. don't be discouraged with it's academic-like cover, it's a good story of girlhood, womanhood, nature and community.
