I read this book for a book club and I probably wouldn’t have picked it up on my own.
It was okay for what it is, it’s a very typical YA with a bit of a love triangle, a competition where competitors try to kill each other ala hunger games and a bit of a Mary Sue main character.
I liked the concept of a society with people with magic/super powers who try to get rid of the ordinaries. The book read quickly and in the beginning I was pretty invested in the story. It dragged on a bit too long for my liking though.
My biggest problem was inconsistent characterisation though, I just had no idea what characters wanted. I did not understand their motivations, why did Paedyn even want to win? Why would they even actually try to kill each other? Why didn’t Kai say fuck everything years earlier? Why has Kitt never had a critical thought in his life?
Not even about their father torturing his brother?? As a kid????

But the book is okay for what it is, if you don’t think too critically about it and liked Throne of Glass In pretty sure you’d like it.
