i would really like to give this book 4,5 stars… basically i’d even choose 5 instead of 4 in this horribly lacking system (we need at least half-points, come on goodreads) but it just doesn’t sit right with me that such a dark hopeless story will get 100% score from me… this was unpleasant to read but it was a great great experience.
i see how the criticisms of this book might include the idea that this type of story has been done a lot and done better, but honestly i don’t care cause this exact book touched me. i generally hate nature and environment descriptions, can’t get through a couple of sentences without yawning, but here all the stuff the character saw through the narco-haze, it was incredible to read, very vivid imagery of the hyper realistic world around him.
