All Of Us Are Broken by Fiona Cummins

dark emotional tense fast-paced

3.75

This was a really interesting book and different to what I expected. It wasn’t a typical mystery thriller - it was actually really emotional and intense. It was fast paced and I loved the way it was building up by taking us through the day of the incident (or incidents). The writing was great, especially the characters. The characters were what made this book for me honestly. I’d say it was character driven. Missy and Fox were very interesting - I love following bad or morally grey characters. They were complex and twisted. Their relationship with each other was toxic which I enjoyed exploring. I also liked Saul. Christine and her family were rewarded well written - I especially liked the exploration of their grief and what they suffered. The plot was dark but exciting. I liked the different perspectives, finding out how things were linked and would play out. It wasn’t necessarily twisty but it didn’t need to be. It was violent and you basically followed two people going on a killing spree which I actually quite enjoyed. There could have been a little more as to why they did that - Missy had never killed before so why did she start that day? I definitely wanted more. Overall, it was really enjoyable to read.
