The Last Flight, by Julie Clark

5.0

What can I say?
This book is compelling and easily one of my favorite thrillers of all times.
I finished this book in two sittings because it was so good that I couldn't put it down.
Clare Cook seems to have it all: a handsome and successful husband with an emerging political career, a beautiful home in Manhattan with a full-time staff ready to serve her, and a job getting prepared to become a potential senator's wife. But, in reality, she is a battered woman who is miserable and fearful of her husband's temper and controlling behavior. So, she's orchestrating her disappearance and the chance to a new life. However, things change last minute and she has to make a split-second decision at the airport when she meets Eva by chance. Eva is also trying to escape her own hell, and in a faithful decision, the two women switch plane tickets in search of a new life.
This story has everything: drama, mystery, suspense, and twists that kept me reading and guessing to the end. Claire's character goes through amazing development, and we learn so much about the details that led her to leave her husband. Eva is smart and clever, but some bad choices along the way have left her with no choice but to run away. In a final twist, the epilogue delivers a shocking revelation that I did not see coming. A solid read!
