My conclusion is that the two main characters are narcissists. However, I don’t believe that’s the authors intent. The writer strives desperately to present them as a wholesome characters in a unfortunate situation, but the consequences of the choices made and the environments reaction to it is so unworldly that it could only be viewed sanely through narcissistic lenses.
In short, this book was trash. The characters all had the same voice. It was a mud pie being served unironically.

Graphic: Adult/minor relationship and Incest
I appreciate that the offer gives a warning of taboo up front. However, the procession from grieving over the death of the mother too I’ve always wanted you even when your mother was alive is absolutely disgusting. And I could not get over it. And I will not get over it. How is this grown man who was married two times and had both wives die, find that verse 17 turned 18 years old is all he ever wanted. I am very uncomfortable. It’s not even the stepdaddy thing, it’s the lusting after your daughter this whole time.
