Drive by James S.A. Corey

2.0

This may be my least favorite entry in the entire series. It still has a good payoff at the end, and we know how pricelessly useful the Epstein Drive is to the world we know and love. But most of this story suffers from prequel syndrome. Fortunately, it's short. Very short. The relationship timeline that sort of guides the story is fine, but not very interesting or compelling. But it does give rhyme and reason to the person who made the drive and how it came to be. Fans will probably enjoy hearing it for that reason alone, even if it doesn't have any of the other trimmings that make an Expanse story so good.
