It’s clear St. James has developed her writing style in a more thoughtful way since writing The Haunting of Maddy Clare. The Sundown Motel and Broken Girls were two of my favorite books that were tough to put down. But this one was tough to want to continue reading. St. James still did a beautiful job developing the characters, but the storyline felt aimless.
