I’ve had the books sitting on my shelf for over a decade, but after reading The Hobbit and not having a good time, I wasn’t chomping at the bit to read them. I’ve seen and love the movies. That’s enough, right?
Well, I had Audible for a few more days before my cancellation day, so I decided to start listening to Fellowship. I started with the Rob Inglis narration and… it wasn’t *bad*, but it wasn’t good. I switched to the Andy Serkis version (which I didn’t know about at first or I would have started there!) and I enjoyed it SO much more.
My mind definitely still wandered a bit here and there, but not as often. I think having seen the movies helped my brain understand and fill in the blanks. I enjoyed finding out the differences between the book and the movie, and I am happy that the movie left out a bunch of the songs/poems. There were way too many for my liking 😂
I will absolutely listen to The Two Towers and Return of the King!
