This book is huge! Compared the volumes 2,3 and 4, this one is a monster due to sheer size. I had attempted this twice this year, but failed. This time though, I made it to the end. Let me say it was definitely worth it.
I now realize why so many in the audience of PS-2 (the film) were disappointed. The plot of the book is richer, has more nuance and neatly ties up all the open ends. I enjoyed the twists, the whoddunit plot, the character development and how it all came together to sync with the history we know. Big thanks to the author for using the editorial note to clarify lot of the questions on a reader's mind.
Being a newbie to Tamil language, it was really difficult for me to read the text on my own. Here, Kadhai Osai's podcast really helped me. They have wonderful recordings of the entire Ponniyin Selvan collection, conveniently split by chapters. If anyone is looking to hear the story, here you go - Kadhai Osai's Podcast - PS Chapter 5
