Because You'll Never Meet Me by Leah Thomas

4.0

this is a great book about how friendship is magic

we have two protaganists: ollie, who is allergic to electricity and has consequently spent his life in isolation in the woods. he is what we in the scientific community call a literal ball of sunshine. i adore him. moritz, born with no eyes and who 'sees' using echolocation lives in germany and has the outlook of a depressed nineteenth century old man. they start writing each other letters and through the power of friendship help each other through beautiful journeys of GROWTH and BUILDING COMMUNITY BONDS

i love them both so much ;_;

leah thomas does an incredible job developing distinct voices for them, they're very different people who manage to understand and support each other because FRIENDSHIP IS MAGIC

also they're brave as hell, my name is z and i am a late-twenties librarian resolving to be less of a coward by following the example of two deeply emotionally courageous teenagers
