I didn’t love this book, but I didn’t dislike it either. It was just a pretty standard intergalactic sci-fi book. It’s very star-wars-esque world with many different planets and species. I will say I appreciated the ways this book touches on issues of racism, war, memory and personal rights. But honestly I don’t really love or connect with any of the characters (except Aly’s droid lol) and don’t really find any of them compelling but kind of like the authors attempt to make them complex has actually made them pretty one dimensional. I am curious about what will happen next, but I’m definitely reading it for a relatively action-filled plot that’s pretty interesting than the individual character stories and arcs. Maybe I’ll feel differently about the second book.
