Going Solo by Zoe Sugg

4.0

This is another cute installment of the Girl Online series.

Penny and Noah had broken up at the end of the last book so Noah was gone for a good portion. I had mixed feelings about that because I loved Noah in the first book but he was kind of irritating in the second one so I think this separation did both Penny and me good. Penny spends this time trying to figure out what she wants and focusing on her photography as well as helping out her friends.

Speaking of friends, I loved her new friend Posey. She was so sweet. She has a big case of stage fright and Penny helps her deal with that. I wish we could have gotten to see her more, I think she'd make a great addition to the core group. Penny's also trying to be supportive of Elliot as things with his parents keep escalating. I was pleased with Elliot and his mom at the end and hope things go good for them. Oh and Leah! I almost forgot her! We see her again and she's still the nicest which always shocks me cause in my brain she was set out to be like a superstar snob.

And then you have that one friend...
Spoiler Okay I hated Megan in the first book, she was such a snob and would always undermine Penny but like in ways you could kind of brush off. The milkshake scene will live on in infamy! But then in the second book you kind of start to like her because she's being so sweet and caring of Penny's anxiety. I was like no, I don't want to like her but how can I not like her when she's really showing Penny support. I thought maybe, just maybe she was going to turn out to be a decent friend and see the error of her ways. Then reading this book I had to keep reminding myself that we like her now but I knew something was going to happen because she wasn't fitting in at this new school of hers and she was lying about it to people back home. And she kept throwing shade every chance she got. I hope Penny has dumped her for good because there are some people who don't deserve another chance and Megan's already passed that line. I know she was one of her oldest friends but honey that ship has sailed. What she did to Posey and Leah, even lying to Penny's face and acting like Penny was beneath her once she got what she wanted was not alright.

There was a new guy introduced, Callum. I really liked Callum, albeit he did have a few kind of annoying flaws. I feel like if we had gotten to know him better I would have really loved him.

Now I feel like this is the last book. It's been a whole year since Penny and Noah met, Penny is kind of on this path with her photography, her and Noah are good, things are kind of resolved with Elliot's family, Penny had a Girl Online meetup and met Pegasus Girl. It seems kind of wrapped up.

I'd still like another book though but a few years down the line when Penny's like 18 or 19, off to uni or on an internship or something. See how life's treating her and the other characters.
