The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis

5.0

my first time re-reading tltwatw since childhood!

four siblings (peter, susan, edmund, and lucy) are evacuated to the english countryside during wwii, and in their new home, discover the magical land of narnia - a world under the control of the white witch. with the help of the lion aslan, they embark on a quest to overthrow the witch, break the curse of eternal winter, and fulfill their destinies as the rightful rulers of narnia.

likes:
‪‪• accessible to all ages, I enjoyed the story just as much as an adult compared to a child
‪‪• so cozy!! feels like a warm hug in winter

dislikes:
‪‪• edmund is such a rat for selling out his family for the absolute nastiest candy ever

quotes:
“i wrote this story for you, but when i began it i had not realized that girls grow quicker than books. as a result you are already too old for fairy tales, and by the time it is printed and bound you will be older still. but some day you will be old enough to start reading fairy tales again”

“if ever they remembered their life in this world it was as one remembers a dream”

“if you've been up all night and cried till you have no more tears left in you - you will know that there comes in the end a sort of quietness. you feel as if nothing was ever going to happen again”
