The Passage by Justin Cronin

4.0

I have been reading THE PASSAGE for 2.5 weeks, so part of me is in shock right now, because I can't quite believe it is finished, but also that ending was super intense.

I had a few up and down moments with this book - possibly because of the time it took to actually get some reading done - but overall I thought it was fantastic. I resisted the idea of reading it, because I knew there was a twisted vampire element involved ( and now that I've read it, I know it is way more complex than I could have imagined) but I was under the impression that it was going to fall in a heavy horror category. When I finally committed to starting, I was sure I'd only be able to read it during the day. Although there was some gore, a bit of twisted/creepy thinking and A LOT of action, none of it was particularly horror-like.

The last 300 pages moved so swiftly, I'm glad I had a completely empty day to sit back and read in one big hit.

Looking forward to jumping into the rest of the series this year.
