Crooked Letter i: Coming Out in the South by Thom Koch, Merril Mushroom, B. Andrew Plant, Beth Richards, Connie Griffin, Jeff Mann, Dorothy Allison, Elizabeth Craven, Christina Holzhauser, Logan Knight

5.0

"Crooked Letter i" is a powerful collection of personal essays and narratives on the coming out experience of various southern natives - from the Appalachian native to the Texan and in between. The nuances and effects that religion has on all of these communities and individuals hits close to home as a gay Mormon in the West - currently the inter-mountain west. You will laugh. You will cry. You will relate and learn new things. Your heart will float when happy endings happen, and sink when they don't happen. It is fascinating to read these vey personal accounts from such a very broad community of LGBT southerners and to gain a better perspective of the landscape there. When one reads these accounts, you are transported to another place and another person's shoes.
