Winter of the Wicked by J.L. Vampa

4.5/5

Wonderful continuation to Autumn of the Grimoire. I felt like I got so much more of the larger story building in this second book. I love that Vampa brought some of the secondary characters to the forefront, especially Winnie and Eleanor (one of my favorites). I think this book really allowed characters that appeared unlikeable or stagnant to come into their own and really, truly own the page. I think Vampa did an amazing job of demonstrating just why the characters act the way they do and how their previous experiences shaped who they are as adults. I am a sucker for a book with strong character development and a solid plot. This had everything I needed.

My one issue is that I really struggle with too many POVs and this book had quite a few for me. It slowed me down a bit in the middle.

The story was haunting, and powerful, and made me hungry for the next one. I cannot wait for the third book, which I am hoping might feature Gaius and Sarscha a bit more, cause I truly need that. They make me laugh so much.
