The Starless Sea by Erin Morgenstern

Did not finish book. Stopped at 72%.
I didn't manage to finish this book not because I felt it was bad, but mostly because I lost the ability to keep up with the pacing. Morgenstern's style of writing is gorgeous, and I thoroughly enjoyed the descriptions and world-building in the beginning, and especially the snippets of the stories woven in and out of the book. But at a certain point I think beautiful writing can get a little stale, and I didn't feel any sense of tension, even in scenes that I think were meant to be fairly dramatic. Rather like the starless sea, I think the pacing of this book is continuously just a gentle ebb and flow, with nothing to hold my interest. My eyes starting blurring over prose that I had come to expect. It kind of sucks to write this, because I really do enjoy her writing style, but I think this book was just not for me.
