This was an enjoyable mystery and showcased Horowitz’s knowledge of Conan Doyle. I loved the references to the red-headed league and other cases, the inclusion of Mycroft and
Moriarity
, and Holmes’ comment about wanting to be a bee-keeper.

The two interlocking cases were interesting, and very dark. I did not solve any part of the mystery. The
false allegations against Holmes, his escape from prison, and his secret message to Watson
were fun.
