A Woman Is No Man by Etaf Rum

5.0

This book is so dear to me! It exceeded my expectations. The raw emotion it unfolds in showing how difficult it is to truly be a woman -- and a Palestine woman on top of it all. The shame, guilt, anger, fear, and sadness so many women feel throughout their lives was highlighted so clearly. There is so much I can say about this book. I think my biggest take-away was the pure, unconditional love Isra had for her daughters despite worrying she was too depressed to care for them -- she endured so much due to her love for them. I absolutely adored this book, although it scattered my emotions all over the place!
