Hearts of Fire: Eight Women in the Underground Church and Their Stories of Costly Faith by The Voice of the Martyrs, Gracia Burnham

5.0

Across the world, Christians are persecuted for their faith. This book gives "faces" to the women of the persecuted church. Eight courageous ladies with a costly faith. Adel, and Indonesian mother kidnapped by Muslims, separated from her husband, beaten and forced to marry another man. Purnima, a young believer in Bhutan, forced to leave her family because of her faith. Aida, a Russian woman with the courage to stand before the courts and defend Christianity. Sabina, a Romanian wife separated from her husband who is imprisoned because he dared to stand up for Christ. Tara, A Pakistani Christian hunted by her own father because of her conversion. Ling, a Chinese believer schooled in the classroom of suffering. Gladys, a missionary to India who demonstrated God's forgiveness after her husband and sons were murdered. And Mai, a Vietnamese girl who dared to return to her native land to share the gospel.

This is an amazing book that offers a glimpse into lives of everyday heroes of the faith. Women who sacrificed, and continue to sacrifice, everything for their Lord and Savior. Inspirational and challenging. I highly recommend it!
