A Winter's Promise by Christelle Dabos

4.0

“Going through the mirrors requires confronting yourself. You need guts, you know, to look yourself straight in the eyes, to see yourself as you are, to dive into your own reflection. Those who hide their faces, those who lie to themselves, those who see themselves better than they are, they will never be able."

This was a great book to start the new year as it gave wintery vibes, had a main protagonist that was truly awkward and a love interest that was the definition of grumpy, and also had a lot of magic and wonderful world-building.

More on the slow-paced side and there's a lot of details that need to be given attention to as this book can be a bit complex, but truly enjoyed this French translation and will plan to pick the other books at the series at some point.
