I Know A Secret by Tess Gerritsen
2.0
Tess' books are pageturner, and you never guess who was the killer, but this is exactly the problem. The killer suddenly appears in the end of the book, I'm not given the chance to figure out myself who might that be.
There were also some things that just didn't make sense. Rizzoli was very incompetent, which doesn't fit a smart detective. She just blindly believes something (that Martin must be guilty) even if her collega's saying it might be the otherwise, and later she suddenly believes some journalist who says the same things as her collega's.
There is more:
How can Cassandra remember "the truth" that she didn't know anything about? All she knew was a hat found in the bus. How did she conclude that Martin was innocent?
How did Amalthea know about there will be another murder? Why does it say "i know what happened" behind the photo that Amalthea send to Martin?
Why didn't Martin answer to the question about this note? What does he know?
All the story about kids started lying for no reason, nobody doubted Billy who was an animal torturer and already bullying Lizzie, and the fact that only evidence was scratches on Holly's body.. Just wasn't enough to convince me, poorly written.
Also, why did killer suddenly started killing again after 20 years? To keep attention on Martin? Or because Cassandra started to doubt her memories? No known reason.
Tess makes me curious with all the mystery but in the end i don't get any answers. I loved the first two Rizzoli & Isles (Surgeon and Apprentice) but the rest slowly went worse and worse. I know it's a bit late as I'm on 13th book, but i think I'm done with this series.
