Gulp: Adventures on the Alimentary Canal by Mary Roach

4.0

Another winner from Roach! This time the journey encompasses all aspects of the alimentary canal in great detail and with the usual fun tangents and footnotes sprinkled throughout. The vast amount of research that Roach has done on the subject is evident, and it is admirable what she is willing to do for the sake of her readers and to answer burning questions. Several chapters shed light on areas and functions of the body normally viewed as taboo, but I found the presented material to be incredibly fascinating.
