Summer Kisses at Mermaids Point by Sarah Bennett
4.0
Mermaids point is a small seaside village thats name takes after the beauties rumoured to live in the waters.
Surrounded by the sea, rocky islands and deep coves its no wonder such a place would attract the myth.
Laurie is a small café owner in town. Her business has been a little slow like others in town. That is until the blurry image of what looks to be a mermaid is posted on social media and later goes viral.
The image brings a lot of business to the town as tourists flock in hoping to catch a glimpse of a real life mermaid.
Jake Smith is one of those new comers. He has rented a cottage for the whole summer while he works on a book, or so he says. Jake is a journalist who’s last story had been difficult for him. His editor sent him to mermaids point to get behind the story of something lighter in the hopes it will help Jake feel better.
Jake finds himself drawn to the village life and especially drawn to the cute café owner.
He and Laurie quickly make friends and develop a romantic relationship. Being burned before, Laurie is very cautious of who she gets involved with.
Through his investigations Jake discovers that the mermaid posting might have a tie to Laurie’s family. He must make the difficult decision to pursue the truth, or protect Laurie and her family. Leaving you to question if everything work out for him and Laurie, or will it all come crashing to a bitter end?
The picturesque coast and well rounded characters with a hint of romance makes this a light and quick summer read.
