What a slog!  So I knew about the made up language or baby talk going into this book and thought I'd be ok with it... It was way over the top.  I know people have short cuts with loved ones but this was ridiculous.

I know King says this is his favorite book. I can see he was trying to show the relationship between Lisey & Scott as being more than a normal marriage. Plus the whole writer writing writers thing that he loves. I just didn't feel the relationship in this book (which is usually one if the best thing about King's writing!).

The Zack McCool plot I'm sure is something that King is worried about for himself as he gets older. I feel like we've seen this character before in the novella "Secret Garden, Secret Window".

Another thing that bugged me, I felt this should have been called "Scott's Story" instead. Lisey seems more like a narrator to Scott's life for us. Also I feel like I've seen the events from Scott's life in the movie "Frailty" (it's been 20 years since I've seen it, so I could be off the mark here).

The only part I felt engaged with were the events with Lisey and her sister Amanda.

Maybe it's a function of the audiobook and I could have glossed over the smucking bad gunkie language but it really was annoying.
