A Life Once Dreamed by Rachel Fordham

4.0

Rachel Fordham does it again - she completely emerses me into a story that makes me want to keep reading and abandon the daily humdrum of errands, kids' activities, and housework. Unfortunately, life kept me from reading as quickly as I'd have liked, and it took me six days to read this wonderful story of how a woman overcomes a prejudice of the time, and teaches others in her community to look at individuals, not circumstances beyond one's control. One of the characters says it best, "It's only where you came from, it's not where you're going." That is great advice everyone with something they hang onto should take to heart.

Possible spoilers ahead: The protagonist does annoy me a little, but considering what she harbors in her heart, it is totally relatable and it is easy for me to judge her. I started to feel bad for a supporting character, but this person is probably the best in the entire book and see great potential for a future story (Where the Road Bends, maybe?
