Dumpty: The Age of Trump in Verse by John Lithgow

5.0

I have a hard time imagining supporters of Trump’s administration actually reading this book. I must hand it to John Lithgow, though, for addressing those supporters in his introduction to this hearty recounting of the mess that was this presidential term. Until I read this, I had not been able to read about the current president, his actions, and the actions of those around him without getting severe anxiety, incredibly sick to my stomach, or wanting to crawl into bed and sob. Well, John Lithgow made it possible to read about the chaos and chuckle. The line drawings alone are worth a look at this collection of poems. It is a sad look at the last few years. Because, even with the laughs, the anxiety snuck in.
