While You Were Mine by Ann Howard Creel

3.0

Overall, I really enjoyed this story. I love that an iconic photograph was given a little story, and that's what originally got me hooked. I found that Gwen was a likable main character, and I enjoyed that we got to see her motherly duties go from an obligation to love. I really enjoyed Dot, Lisen, and Geoff. I really wish that Gwen wouldn't have been so nice. John felt like he was too perfect, which seemed unrealistic. I wish he would have been a little more flawed, beyond his one pivotal jerk moment of the story. I couldn't even really hate him during that because he felt like he was doing the right thing. Maybe it's me, but I like characters with weird quirks.

The biggest thing for me in this book was the predictability. At no point in time did I really feel surprised by anything. So while I enjoyed it, the story left me wanting more. I was really hoping that all of the predictability would lead to some big huge surprise at the end, but alas there was no surprise to be had.
