The Hate You Drink by N.R. Walker
4.0
I received an ARC from the author and this is my honest review.
For me, this book was the perfect balance of sad and swoon, rough and romantic. The title hints at a lot of hurt, which is there, but it's also intertwined with a healthy dose of romance and sacrifice, love and friendship. #PerfectBlend
What I Loved:
1. The Characters:
- Erik: Successful and responsible business man, filthy rich and hopelessly in love with his best friend since the moment he saw him back in college. #HopelesslyDevotedToYou
- Monroe: An heir to a successful business which he wants nothing to do with. drowning is grief, guilt and alcohol since his parents died in a plane crash. He doesn't want anyone except his best friend Erik, who ground him at last for a while. #INeedYou
2. The Plot:
Erik gives Monroe an ultimatum after an especially bad alcoholic binge. we then follow both men as they navigate Monroe's rehabilitation and Erik's independence rather than codependence. Monroe needs to let go, and Erik needs to live regardless of Monroe. #Symbiotic
3. The Romance:
Erik has been pining for close to 2 decades and Monroe has been oblivious. we get to experience how Roscoe takes his head out of his a$$ and acknowledges that he too has been in love with Erik...he just didn't know it. #Clueless
4. Steam-o-meter: Medium steam.... #GreedyForMore
5. Angst-o-meter: Angsty but not overwhelming. #Balance
6. POV: 1st POV...dual POV. #InMyHead
7. The HEA: Swoony and sweet. #Perfect
