Red Noise by John P. Murphy

4.0

This was fun read. A Sci-fi take on the western trope of a lone, nameless gunman strolling into town for only long enough to distribute her own brand of justice before departing. Though, even the Miner admits, there were a few tits up along the way.

I like the "cozy" setting of the story - everything takes place on a single space station, over a short period of time - and it kind of reminded me of the awesome Dredd movie from 2012.

I liked the Miner well enough, even though I usually prefer more in-depth depth characterization and backstory. We get enough hints to know her past was very... intense and interesting, and it makes me somewhat sad that we didn't get to learn more about it. I get it, though - lone, nameless gunman type. What can I say, I love me some badass older women.

Some of the side characters were a hoot. Herrera, in particular, can teach me to sweat any day. Bot-fucking syphilis reservoirs, indeed. Him and Takata will make a cute couple.

Overall, I would read this author again.
