Three Blind Mice: A Short Story by Agatha Christie

mysterious tense fast-paced

5.0

I am a huge Agatha Christie fan so it is a pleasure to re-visit her work. And sine I read this novella so long ago I had no memory of the conclusion!

One of my favorite aspect of Christie’s work is the way she uses questions and doubt to get the characters’ minds spinning. It adds to the tension of the piece as the reader gets caught up in the wondering as well.

In this book we have people stranded in a manor house with a killer. All of them are strangers as the manor house has been turned into a boarding house and there are three guests, the newlywed couple running the place, a middle of the night mysterious arrival, and the recently arrived policeman who tells them of the murder connection.

The story plays out as the tension builds and there is a murder with a promised third in the offing. Suspicions swirl around everyone until the climactic moment. It is vintage Christie.
