Conflicted!! I like most of Sally Rooney’s characters – they’re incredibly relatable, real, imperfect, genuine, and with lots of flaws. It’s been awhile since I read one of her books but her writing style, especially when it comes to conversations, does take a lil while to get used to. I also love that she introduces a lot of realism into her storyline, like Frances’ and Bobbi’s complicated friendship (and relationship), Frances’ and Nick’s secret and awkward romance, and more. But the one thing I can’t stand is the extramarital affair… clearly Frances and Nick have tons to work out together but why did they have to do that all while he’s still married to Melissa :( it just makes it so hard for me to love their characters and to empathise with them. I know it isn’t black and white just like in real life but still… a major dealbreaker for me!!! I do love Frances and Bobbi though, I’m happy they found their way back to each other.
