Moonflower Murders by Anthony Horowitz

4.0

My goodness, this book is MEATY. At just over 600 pages, it's full of suspense and characters and mystery and fun. Two mysteries in one, it tells the story of Susan Ryeland, a former book editor now living in Crete running a hotel with her partner Andreas and somewhat missing the life she had in England. Just about the time she wonders whether she should be doing something different, the Trehernes show up looking for help to find their daughter, who's gone missing after re-reading a book edited by Susan in her former life. She's off to England and realizes she might be in for more than she bargained for as she tracks down the details of an 8-year-old murder and its relevance to one of the books by her best-selling author, now dead himself. The book is two stories in one and gives the reader two separate but related puzzles to sort out, which is an interesting plot device, but a lot to keep up with. Overall, cleverly written, and well done though. Thoroughly enjoyable.
