Batman: Prelude to Knightfall by Chuck Dixon

4.0

This book presents a near impossible challenge to the editors - should they go for comprehensiveness or readability? Choosing one sacrifices the other. They chose to be comprehensive and the story is disjointed as a result. Both the Detective Comics arcs starring the "General" and "Cypher" could have excised without sacrificing anything from the main narrative. On the other hand, if you make an effort to piece the narrative together in your mind, this book offers a satisfying look at the mental disintegration of Batman/Bruce Wayne leading up to Knightfall.
