I enjoyed the first book well enough and have been going through a “let’s finish everything this author has ever written” kick lately, even if I’m not super into the books. All that to say that I thought I’d like the second book, but nothing more than that. On that count, I was entirely wrong. This book was so well-done for me that I loved it. I laughed out loud so many times during this book (every single time Joyce’s Instagram came up) because there was so much fun and cute humor in this. The twists and turns in the mystery in this one really kept me going and I loved seeing how Elizabeth would fit everything together. All the characters were once again so well-developed, and so likable (even the villains sometimes). What’s more, this book gave me the feels and made me tear up. Everything around Ibrahim’s struggles and how his people rally around him. And especially how you think you have an idea around the title early on, but the heartbreaking bit right at the end that flips it—that part got me. I’m so ready for the third one.
