This Song Will Save Your Life by Leila Sales

There is always a kid in school that is deemed the odd one. The one that enjoys school, the one that just doesn't really have friends. That girl is Elise, she is super smart and just isn't what others in her class call cool. She spent all summer before her sophomore year studying up on what is in fashion and what cool looks like. Her first day of school she dresses the 'right' way but still no one pays any attention. In fact it doesn't change anything. People still make fun of her, to the point that she finally figures out that she should just kill herself. I mean why live in this torture. No one would miss her, except maybe her parents and siblings. So she cuts herself and calls the one girl that's been nice to her this year.

Fast forward six months and Elise has been on lockdown. The reigns are finally loosening so she's able to be alone. She's like her mom and can't sleep more than a few hours a night. So she goes walking and meets Vicky and Pippa and they open a world up to Elise she never knew existed. The underground club Start is where Elise begins to shine. She's liked here, she's treated like shes a human being with feelings, unlike at school. It becomes a high for her.

Not only does she meet the girls she meets Char. He's the DJ. He's also a bit of a man-whore. Char starts to teach Elise to DJ and she takes right to it. She loves it so much that she gets her dad to get her some equipment.

All the while a new blog/diary shows up. Its a telling of Elise's life, of how depressed she is. She seems to be doing better, except everyone at school is reading this. Including the teachers. The only problem is, Elise isn't writing it and she doesn't know who is. She doesn't go to anyone and tell them because they won't believe her, she thinks.

So much more going on in this story. This is such an amazing story. I connected with Elise on a personal level. Her parents are divorced and they hate each other, they have a calendar for all of Elise's things so they don't have to talk. When things blow up and seriously we know they do, her parents are there together for her. I could go on and on and on but I don't want to give away anything else. I got a chance to meet the author and she is just so nice and down to earth. RUN don't walk and get this book. You won't regret it. Leave some love in the form of a review.
