Suicide Notes by Michael Thomas Ford

5.0

Well damn I opened the book thinking this is going to be a fluffy book full of teenage hormones with a side helping of anxiety... oh no, it's not that at all.

It didn't take long for the story to bring me out in all the feels. It turns out to be a really poignant story about Jeff and his journey of self-discovery. Yes, that did include an attempt of suicide but his reasons really resonated with me. Each chapter of the story is a day in the 45-day programme Jeff is in at the psychiatric hospital. In the beginning, Jeff was adamant that he had nothing to talk about... until he did, and then it all came tumbling out. That's the funny thing about depression or anxiety. Some days, we just don't know what we feel or why we feel a certain way until we process and understand it ourselves.

I loved the characters.. they were fine-tuned and really added to the narrative. Also, can we just appreciate how Jeff was with Martha he came across so caring, and I definitely got big brother vibes.

It's beautiful, honest, raw, and meaningful and covers some deep topics about real life. It's definitely so well written.

Thank you to Pride Book Tours for having me on the tour, & thank you to Michael Thomas Ford and Harper Collins for a copy of the books
