Eternal Kiss of Darkness by Jeaniene Frost
4.0
Originally read in 2010.
Oct 2, 2018 reread:
This one didn't hold up to my original 4 Star rating for me.
I would say 2.5 -3 Stars at best. I found myself skimming and bored.
I am smack in the middle of a reread of the entire Night Huntress series to prepare to read the series finale book that I never got around to so that might be it... too much immersion.
Or maybe my reading tastes have changed over the years that I can't be satisfied with instalove without character development. Kira was a vague sketching in so many ways and it was frustrating especially given that I spent 5 previous books getting to know Mencheres as a major side character. Sure, we find out more about him but Kira was just too "easy" in every way. She had the mind of a suspicious cop. That element played heavily in the first 1/3 of the book and then seem to poof away as Mencheres's love made all the questions disappear. For whatever reason, I just didn't connect with our couple this time around.
