The Valiant Nellie McClung: Selected Writings by Canada's Most Famous Suffragist by Dave Obee, Nellie L. McClung, Barbara Smith

3.0

“Never Apologize. Never retract. Never explain. Get the thing done and let them howl.” ~ Nellie McClung

A very interesting read. Her writing style is gorgeous and she slipped many observations of life into her essays on Lantern Lane, and vice versa.

I’m trying to think of a way to critique her views and not her writing. Her white feminism shows at times in her writing. It could be the choice of essays, but only a small gathering of sentences references FNMI children, who are at a school run by the government. For all she writes of allowing refugees to come into Canada from other countries, what about FNMI living conditions in our own country?
